Meet the May 2019 Student of the Month
ON-CAMPUS STUDENT: Misael Trejo

On campus, he is involved in Circle K International, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and interns for the office of Transition, Inclusion & Diversity Excellence (TIDE) at Fort Hays State University. His hobbies include traveling, playing and watching basketball, trying new foods, and watching memes. Misael chose to get involved with the department because he heard from his friends enjoyed the department. His favorite leadership class so far has been LDRS 640, Principles of Civic Leadership. He enjoyed the course because it taught him to take a step back and evaluate myself on what I was doing to create positive changes in society. "It was a class that I was always excited to attend because each week was powerful. It motived me to advocate for groups that are underrepresented and always look to be on the right side of human history." Congratulations, Misael!
ON-CAMPUS STUDENT: Bingbing Tao
Bingbing is a graduate student working on her masters in Higher Education Student Affairs (HESA). On campus, she enjoys being involved in Student Affairs Graduate Association and works on research consistently. Outside of school, she loves to spend time with friends and having in-depth conversations to reflect on various issues. Bingbing got involved with Leadership Studies because she was required to take Organizational Systems, Change, & Leadership. This was her first leadership class that she completed. However, she mentions "Before this class, I met several people in higher leadership, especially in my previous working experience. Through this class, I have recognized the qualities of a good leader from the perspective of theoretical knowledge. Through this class, I began to reflect, summarize, and explore my leadership characteristics, and began to think about various issues, such as whether am I suitable to be a leader or a follower, how do I become a good leader, what are my strengths and advantages, what can I do well, and so on. This class has inspired me to analyze issues in a multi-dimensional way, and at the same time, to reflect on myself in depth. From this lesson, I got more than I expected. It is really a wonderful exploring trip." Congratulations, Bingbing!
